Joy

Joy is in the smile of an African orphan who has been adopted into the kingdom of God.

"True religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." James 1:27

We recently went to the Door of Hope for a performance by children from Watoto in Uganda, Africa. There is rare beauty in the smiles of children who know who they are. These kids were free to sing, dance and share what God had done in their lives.

Since the pregnancy, Chynna has not felt herself. Every day has been hard and full of pain. Watching the children from Uganda was the first moment of peace within her body. During the service, she felt completely free of pain.

Times like this remind us of our calling. If you know us well at all, you know we have a heart for Africa. We desire to live in Africa, learn in schools there and even adopt children from within the country; we even want to be involved with orphanages. Our heart only grows stronger when we see someone from Africa, engage in conversation with them, and hug tiny children from their orphanages. There is joy in the love of the African people. We will go! We will follow God.

Knowing that we are not BOUND by this world, we feel so much freedom. We are free to go, explore and find life around the world. Nothing and no one has control over us. We are free!

We just want to go where love is. For some, love is in their backyards. For others, love is around the world hiding in hut homes waiting for a hand. Love is everywhere. We want to go where our love is. Our love is in Africa and will be until we go.

No matter what goes on around us, we have hope. Our anchor holds within the veil. Oh, Christ alone.

Pray for us. Let us know if anyone in Africa needs a hand. We will pray, seek and trust God for direction on whether it is time to go. We are eager. We are willing.

To God be the glory, forever. Amen.
